Janny Wu, also known as Wu Xiaohong, is a seasoned Tai Chi and Qigong instructor with over 15 years experience in teaching people of all ages. Janny’s desire is to share with people the many benefits of practicing Yang style Tai Chi Chuan and through that practice encourage the body to feel younger and healthier.

Janny Wu trained in China and has achieved a sixth Wushu Duan ranking. Master Janny Wu is a disciple under the fifth generation in the Yang Tai Chi family tree of master Zhao Youbin. Janny is skilled in traditional Yang style Tai Chi Chuan 85 form and 37 classic form as well as Tai Chi Sword and Tai Chi Fan. Janny also trained with the fifth generation of Wu style Tai Chi descendant Zhai Wei Chuan and the fifth generation of Bagua descendant Huo Dongli.

Janny Wu has been teaching Tai Chi and Qigong in the Sacramento area since 2007. She and her strong community of students make up the Tong Xin Tai Chi Association. Janny's teachings enable students to feel easy and comfortable as she takes into account each student's needs and maximizes the healthful benefits of their Tai Chi practice.

NCCCAF 2017 Tai Chi Tournament

Some members of the Tong Xin Tai Chi Association will compete in the fifteenth annual Chinese American Olympics of Northern California hosted by NCCCAF (Northern California Chinese Culture Athletic Federation).

Northern California Chinese Culture Athletic Federation was founded in 2003 to help unify our overseas Chinese community. During these 15 years, our athletes and volunteers have grown to tens of thousands of participants. Each year, we hold over 20 competitions starting in May and running through the August Sports-Meet, which is recognized as one of the greatest Chinese sports programs in the bay area. Countless outstanding young athletes have been cultivated by us, and we are very proud of all the remarkable records created by our excellent athletes. In addition to our summer focus on sports, we have also organized over 100 cultural exchanges and theatrical performances over the past 10 years. Thanks to our enthusiastic sponsors, associations, athletes and volunteers’ continuing support and participation. We look forward to the ongoing development of our sports and cultural exchange with the overall Chinese community - building on our mission of developing unity, harmony, and spirit through the strong actions of rejuvenating the Chinese nation and dream.

2017 Wushu Championships

Some members of the Tong Xin Tai Chi Association compete in this event. We received 1st Place in Group Baduanjin Qigong and 1st Place in Group Yang Taiji Quan.

The 2017 Golden State Wushu International Wushu Championships will be held on Saturday June 17, 2017, at Independence High School Gym in San Jose, CA, USA.

Golden State International Wushu Championships started in 2009. It’s officially sanctioned by the United States Wushu-Kungfu Federation (USAWKF) and organized by National Tai Chi Wellness Foundation (NTCWF) and Li's Wushu Academy. This Championship is open to international and national competitors, including Traditional & Contemporary Wushu, Shaolin, Tai Chi Quan, Group competition, All-Around championships and Health Qigong competition events.

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day

The Tong Xin Tai Chi Association, along with other local Tai Chi teachers and students, will join in the 2017 World Tai Chi and Qigong Day - an annual global event held the last Saturday of April to promote the related disciplines of Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong.

It's FREE to attend the event to observe or to join in on a group practice of Tai Chi and Qigong. It doesn't matter what style of Tai Chi you know or if you have never tried Tai Chi before – all are welcome.

Meet at William Land Park, just east of picnic area 10. Bring your own blanket or chair, thirst quencher, and light snack for energy boost. No food or beverages are provided at this event.

This Health Fair heavily emphasizes the importance of physical health and is offering a few Tai Chi lessons by the Tong Xin Tai Chi Association in the morning between 10 AM~ 12 PM.  The Health Fair is offered by two of UC Davis free student-run clinics, Paul Hom Asian Clinic (PHAC) and VN CARES (Vietnamese Cancer Awareness, Research, and Education Society). The Health Fair will break linguistic and cultural barriers that can prevent access to quality health care so they will have student translators who speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Taishanese, and Vietnamese. And, as a team, UC Davis undergraduates, UC Davis medical students, volunteer preceptors, collaborate together and dedicate a lot of time to make this event happen.  Come and enjoy this event.

The 2016 KUNG FU TAI CHI DAY is scheduled for May 22, 2016 (Time TBD).  It will be combined with the 2016 Tiger Claw Elite KungFuMagazine.com Championship and held in the South Hall of the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.  Sunday will have all of the attractions of KUNG FU TAI CHI DAY, including the Masters’ Demonstration and workshops, plus the Internal and Showcase Divisions of the 2016 Tiger Claw Elite KungFuMagazine.com Championship.  Admission will be free for spectators.

Pete Gryffin, PH.D., has over 30 years of experience with Tai Chi, Qigong and Kung Fu. His research includes implications related to hypoxia, cancer and Tai Chi; Pete was an Alumni Fellow at the University of Florida, where he received his PhD in Health and Human Performance

John Shaw, M.D., from Guangzhou, China, is knowledgeable in traditional Chinese medicine and bone joint replacement. Dr. Shaw helps patients relieve pain caused by long-term bone and joint disorders. Come to the 2016 World Tai Chi and Qigong day gathering to meet Dr. Shaw who will be available for questions and answers.

Cultural Events Day

The Tong Xin Tai Chi Association volunteers to support McClatchy High School in their annual Cultural Events Day. McClatchy High School, parents and community members come together to make culture more than something to talk about and McClatchy students are able to attend one or two workshops to broaden their cultural horizons in an extended day of learning.

Janny Wu and the Tong Xin Tai Chi Association have designed a Tai Chi Chuan Workshop to introduce the students to a unique form of exercise, meditation, and martial art. Not only will students gain insight into the history of Tai Chi, they will experience the flowing movements directly and hopefully be inspired to explore the many benefits for years to come.

Janny Wu travels to Houston, Texas to co-teach a three day intensive workshop on behalf of the Zhao Youbin Yang school of Tai Chi Chuan.   For six hours each day, the ten core principles of Yang Tai Chi are covered in detail, along with major postures such as brush knee and twist step, part the wild horse's mane, wave hands like clouds, and grasp bird's tail.

Honoring Elders Day

Each autumn, the City of Dharma Realm invites local senior citizens to a heartwarming celebration of Honoring Elders Day. Local students and community members offer performances, including dragon dance, lion dance, Chinese folk dance and music to welcome their special guests.  Janny Wu and the Tong Xin Tai Chi group is scheduled to demonstrate Yang style Tai Chi Chuan at this event some time between 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM. The City of Dharma Realm's kitchen staff prepares and offers the seniors a scrumptious vegetarian meal from 11 AM to 1:30 PM.

Workshop with Grandmaster Zhao Youbin

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to study with Grandmaster Zhao Youbin who was born into the 5th generation of the Yang Tai Chi family tree. The workshop is designed to elevate your study of Yang style tai chi, covering theory, foundational principles, and techniques to help you achieve an excellent level of practice. Some moves from the traditional Yang 85 form will be used to illustrate concepts, however, the workshop will not teach the Yang 85 form. Attend this workshop to immerse yourself in healthy Yang style Tai Chi. Attend all four sessions for the most benefit, but options are designed to accommodate those needing schedule flexibility.

4 sessions (10 hours total)

2 sessions on August 2 (Sunday)

Master Zhao Youbin is President of Xi’an Yongnian Yang Family’s Tai Chi association. He is Vice President of Xi’an Wushu Association, Vice Director of the Department of Tai Chi Quan of Shaanxi Province, China, and Director of Zhao Youbin Yang’s Tai Chi Quan Training Center. He is also a Committee Member of the Wushu Branch of the National Society of Sports and Science and was also awarded the prestigious title of National Wushu Duan Level 8 by the Chinese Government.

Master Zhao Youbin is President of Xi’an Yongnian Yang Family’s Tai Chi association. He is Vice President of Xi’an Wushu Association, Vice Director of the Department of Tai Chi Quan of Shaanxi Province, China, and Director of Zhao Youbin Yang’s Tai Chi Quan Training Center. The Tong Xin Tai Chi Association joined in World Tai Chi and Qigong Day - an annual global event held the last Saturday of April each year to promote the related disciplines of T'ai Chi Ch'uan and Qigong. Members of the Tong Xin Tai Chi Association went to a couple of local parks and practiced together.

Some group members were traveling in China with Master Wu and they also enjoyed Tai Chi in a park however for the folks in China, it wasn't that special of a day because every day so many people are doing Tai Chi there.

YANG STYLE TAI CHI WORKSHOP - 2014

This workshop provides students with the rare opportunity to study with Grandmaster Zhao Youbin and Master Zhao Liang. The workshops are based upon the traditional Yang 37-style tai chi and the second duan routine. It will cover tai chi theory, boxing and self-defense, and pushing hands. Students may attend either one or both sessions however space is limited so please apply as soon as possible.
